"Teh" creationists....
By the way, I am aware of the number of spelling mistakes here. Will correct later.
Right, seems that I recieved a comment from a quite rare type of person: A creationist.
He made a comment on my Answers In Genesis entry, along with the link for his blog, which tries to put down evolution. It was filled with the usual arguements that a creationist would use, so I decided to leave a comment on one of his entries. Of course, being as creationists get really stubborn online, I had to be in their "team" to comment (I assume this was because they do not like it when people leave comments that disagree with their theories).
Because of this, I'm going to post up the comment here, for all to see. It isn't the most professional of comments, but none-the-less, hopefully it'll kickstart a debate.
Here goes:
Hello, saw your link.
Intolarence against religion?
Far from it. I assume you're living in America right? Athiests are the most distrusted group in the US, more than gays/lesbians, blacks, Muslims, Mormons etc.
The problem with creationsim is that bases it's entire theory on a book that is thousands of years old. We do not even know who wrote it. Science doesn't base theories and hypothesises on a biased source. Scientists didn't hope that the results would be like this.
Creationists take the belief that the Earth is between six-twelve thousand years old. This is a huge contrast between the billions of years that science has dug up. Along with the fact that the creationist theory is biased upona dated book, and it becomes pretty clear which theory I'd prefere.
Also, I'd like to point out that many scientists are not out of disprove God, but they try to find out what is true, if I have put that correctly. I got the feeling from your blog that if a person rejests creationism, then they also reject God as well. A good friend of mine is a devout Christian, yet he rejects creationism...
I'm not trying to start a flame war, but I'd like it if you were open to people's ideas and beliefs. I was a Christian for roughly two years perhaps, so it isn't like I'm a biased athiest trying to a picka fight with you for the sake of it (probably). Anyway, hope to debate with you in the future...

Please visit his blog and try to start a discussion with him. Should be interesting, no doubt about that...

You're absolutely right, Joe. I read the blog, and went to leave a comment to this effect:
Are you saying that the Earth was created in a vacuum, before all the rest of the universe?
Surely, that is the most egocentric view!
I believe, if there were a god, then then one would feel a humbleness in the presence. In fact, didn't it say in the bible we should be humble?
I can't see the two ideas co-existing happily.
And, no, I couldn't publish it as only team members could comment. I think that's a shame, since discussion invariably breeds openess and an ability to see more than your own view.
If your views are never challenged, you may as well have remained a child and spent your life being told what to think! As an adult, one might expect a matureness, which developes from intelligence and knowledge....

Stumbled on ur blog while trying to get help for mine. (brand new old guy). My blog is to disseminate info on that ole time religion called islam. I find religion to be the root of all evil, with islam being the taproot of all evil. well anyway, if god didn't exist it would be necessary for man to invent him, as someone, somewhere once said.

Well, I disagree with your thoughts on Creation vs. Evolution. However, I am working to put together a blog on the WEAKNESSES of evolution. You can find it at http://creation-evolution.blogspot.com
However, I am here to present the weanesses of evolution, and not to say that either Creation or Evolution is right. Feel free to take a look. (You can leave posts there. :) I hope to leave it that way as long as it does not get too busy)
My site is still a work in progress, so be patient.

Oh boy you have more patience than me! I have had too much close contact (friends of housemates etc. in the past) with people who take the Bible literally to be able to stomach it anymore. I asked one of them, if the Bible is literal, where are the dinosaurs? He actually told me that the dinosaur bones are fake and were put here by the devil to tempt us!!!
I've visited a couple of religious blogs lately because the owners put them up in the google review blog- (without warning that they were religious, which is how I came to visit). And yes, isn't it funny the way they all want the comments pre-moderated first?
The thing is I don't understand why creationists can't get on with scientists. It 's like this-
if i made you a cake and asked you, how did this cake come to be, you could answer it two ways-
you could either say "Helena MADE this cake"
or you could say "this cake was made by the interaction of the following ingredients at a certain temperature for a certain length of time..."
Both correct!
Why can't creationists have enough imagination to think that science just unravels their god's recipe? If they want to believe in the chef, ok, but don't tell me there isn't a recipe!
AAARGH
They always approach this -and any other argument- from the point of view that they are right and they are doing a good Christian thing by even listening to us and hey, this is a chance to save someone. But if we walk away still disagreeing that's our fault and we're going to hell.
See? Don't start me off! Don't start me off! Aaaargh.
I have no patience for it any more, but I'm glad there are people who CAN still take them on.So go for it! I'd rather just go straight to banging my head on the wall.

Dinosaur bones there to tempt us by the evil one? thats a new one even on me - I AM A CHRISTAIN - I dont mind admiting it - and it is good to see your writings again Joe (been a while since you posted on the forum of a site you used to explore God on!
However I digress!! Am i the only Christian out ther that is completely and utterly convinced that the earth is over 4000 - 6000 years old?? I heard this form a church friend recently and was completely astounded at this 'fact' - historians and scientists from many fields have more than given enough evidence that the earth is clearly older than this, and I thought the idea of dinosaur bones being 'devils food for thought' is complete tripe (IMHO) - why cant the creatures refered to in Genesis be infact the 'dinosaurs'???? am I alone in this view as a creationist????
